140. The Champagne Wreck

In this episode we will head out 16 nautical miles south of the Blekinge coast in the southern Baltic Sea. There at the bottom lies a wreck that is believed to have sunk in a storm in 1861. The wreck has been known for some time, but after an update of the digital maps, the wreck appeared on the screen of a Polish diving team; Baltictech.

They became curious and dived on the wreck. This was during the summer of 2024 and what the divers encountered was not just any cargo, among other things, they found large quantities of bottles of champagne. The wreck attracted a lot of attention both in Sweden and abroad when it turned out that the champagne could be identified - Louis Roederer Now the divers are back at the site, and the podcast is with them as they dive on the wreck again.
